When it comes to aluminum fishing boats nowadays, few boats can stack up the benefits that they offer. Quite simply, these boats are rapidly overtaking fiberglass and steel for many reasons. First, they weight quite a bit less, making them easier to load and unload, and of course, faster out on the water.

They don’t’ rust, and therefore keep their resale price much better. In fact, they are generally much more resistant to wear and tear in general, so they don’t require nearly as much upkeep.

If you do plan on using aluminum fishing boats for your fishing endeavors, and have read my articles in the past, you know I’m not a huge advocate of boat dealerships, for the simple fact that you can get a much better deal elsewhere, and typically without searching very hard.

So many people pay more than they have to, simple because they know they can get high quality at the dealership, and often times don’t trust private parties. While it’s true that you know what you are getting with dealerships, and can get the occasional lemon with a private party due to the lack of inspection, I would say that the risk is more than worth it.

When you know what to look for, you can give the boat a thorough inspection yourself, and don’t have to worry bout getting a bad deal.

I’d also advocate you sing up for a membership to repossessed boats websites, as these typically charge you a minimum fee, and you get access to all the aluminum fishing boats that banks are desperate to get rid of.

You can save a lot of money shopping this way, and many people do. Again, few people shop here because they either don’t want to pay the upfront fee (typically very marginal) or they have a bad image in their mind when they hear the term repossessed. In reality, repossessed boats are generally just as high quality as regular, and usually come at a far cheaper price.
